Letters : about Edgar Allan Poe, 1944-1949.

Mabbot writes about Oliver Leigh and his book on Poe, Poe scholar "JHW" (probably James Howard Whitty), debates over the first printing of Poe's "The Raven," and his own academic troubles. All four letters were written in New York City and deal with some aspect of Poe scholarship. One is addressed to "CFH," dated February 10, 1944; two are addressed to "Dear Friend, " dated January 10 and December 22, 1946; and the last is addressed to "Mr. Canny, " dated December 8, 1949.
